Spanish soprano, Laura Alonso Padín lives in Berlin.
She is a First Prize winner of the ALFREDO KRAUS COMPETITION, the FRANCO CORELLI, VERVIERS and JAUME ARAGALL competitions and, at 23 years of age, joined the ensemble of the AALTO THEATER ESSEN where her early roles included Mimí in LA BOHEME, Gilda in RIGOLETTO, Susanna in THE MARRIAGE OF FIGARO, Zdenka in ARABELLA with conductor, Stefan Soltesz, Pamina in THE MAGIC FLUTE and Blanche in THE DIALOGUES OF THE CARMELITES.
She now performs with conductors of international acclaim such as Stefan Soltesz, Ion Marin, Philipp Jordan, Zoltan Peszko, Víctor Pablo Pérez, Heiko Matthias Förster, Antonello Allemandi, Frans Brüggen, Helmuth Rilling, Jiri Kôut, Karel Mark Chichon and Michel Plasson, at such leading European companies as the DEUTSCHE OPER AM RHEIN, STAATSOPER BERLIN, OPER LEIPZIG, OPER FRANKFURT, STAATSTHEATER DARMSTADT, OPERA NATIONALE DE LORRAINE, the LICEU in Barcelona, STAATSTHEATER BRAUNSCHWEIG, NATIONAL THEATRE MANNHEIM, THEATRE DE POISSY, KOMISCHE OPER BERLIN, THEATER FREIBURG, THEATER KIEL and THEATER LUBECK and at leading festivals including the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Tenerife festivals, the ROYAUMONT FESTIVAL, BREGENZER FESTSPIELE, VERBIER FESTIVAL, EXPO HANNOVER, INNSBRUCKER FESTWOCHEN, ILLE DE FRANCE FESTIVAL, FESTIVAL DE SANTANDER, SALZBURG FESTIVAL and OPERA WEEK BERLIN specialising in such roles as Antonia, Zerbinetta, Susanna, Oscar, Lucia, Lulú, Giulia, Nannetta, Sophie, Nedda, Elvira, Amina, Magda, Lucia, and Violetta.
Recent career highlights include Giulia in LA SCALA DI SETA, performed during a European tour with the FREIBURGER BAROKORCHESTER under the baton of Attilio Cremonesi , the title role in ARIADNE AUF NAXOS at the STAATSOPER BERLIN, Sandrina in LA FINTA GIARDINIERA at the SALZBURG FESTIVAL and Violetta in LA TRAVIATA at the STAATSTHEATER DARMSTADT as well as Donna Anna in DON GIOVANNI in Chile and Constanza in THE ABDUCTION FROM SERAGLIO and the title role in LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR both for the SOUTHERN ILLINOIS OPERA FESTIVAL in the USA. She made her debut at the INNSBRUCK FESTIVAL in the role of Cleopatra in GIULIO CESARE IN EGITTO by Antonio Sartorio for which she won the French critics’ award, the DIAPASON D’OR for the ORFF label recording.
Also Cio-Cio San in performances of MADAM BUTTERFLY on tour in China and for CONSTANTA OPERA in Rumania..
Other recordings include Michel Plasson’s conducting of the LINCOLN CENTER‘s production of Llorca’s LAS HORAS VACIAS and belcanto arias with the ORQUESTA FILARMONICA DE MALAGA. Future recording plans include being engaged by NAXOS for a CD to be conducted by Miran Vaupotic.
On the concert platform Laura Alonso Padín‘s performances have recently included Magda in LA RONDINE in Utrecht with the T.R.O.S. RADIO & TELEVISION ORCHESTRA and conductor, Gómez Martínez, concerts of Spanish songs with the HAMBURG SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA, her debut in the ALICE TULLY HALL in New York, a German tour with Chilean tenor Felipe Rojas, accompanied by the ORCHESTRA NEUE PHILHARMONIE WESTFALEN, concerts of Vivaldi with the ORCHESTRA DA CAMERA FIRENZE and performances of EL RETABLO DE MAESE PEDRO by de Falla in Tel Aviv, and appearances with the ORQUESTRA SINFONICA DI ROMA. She was engaged as soloist for New Year’s Eve concerts in 2014 with DALLAS SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA under Oliver von Dohnanyi, singing Strauss FRUHLING STIMME WALTZE and operetta arias by Kalman, Strauss and Lehar, and concert appearances during 2015 included the Verdi REQUIEM and gala performances with UK tenor, Paul Potts, both with the PHILHARMONIE LEIPZIG. Concert engagements during 2016 included the Mozart REQUIEM in Cairo.
Laura Alonso Padin‘s recent appearances, during 2016, included CARMEN in Chengdu and Plauen, both seasons conducted by Michael Köhler and SUOR ANGELICA in Panama City.
During 2017 she sang Cio-Cio San in performances of MADAM BUTTERFLY with the orchestra of the PALAU DE LES ARTS in Valencia and returned to Chengdu for Liu in TURANDOT and Violetta in LA TRAVIATA.
She appeared in an opera gala in Zamora in Spain, with internationally acclaimed tenor, Hector Sandoval and gave a solo recital, accompanied by Hartmut Höll, at CARNEGIE HALL.
Highlights of 2018 included Mahler’s LIEDER EINES FAHRENDEN GESELLEN with the TAIYUAN SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA in China and LA VOIX HUMAINE with ELBPHILHARMONIE HAMBURG.
2019 included her role debut as both Tosca and Aida in Santiago da Compostela and Abigaile in NABUCCO and as Turandot in 2020.
Future plans include the title role of NORMA for MUSICA VIVA HONG KONG during 2021.
