Roberto Jachini Virgili was born in Fermo, in Italy, in 1984.
He currently works with Mariella Devia, has studied with Renata Scotto at the ACCADEMIA NAZIONALE DI SANTA CECILIA in Rome and been a first prize winner of the CONCORSO FESTIVAL DEI DUCHI DI ACQUAVIVA and of the MAGGIO FIORENTINO singing competition, a finalist of the 2013 JEUNESSE VOCAL COMPETITION in Belgrade and winner of the MARIO BINCI PRIZE of the CASTELFIDARDO AWARDS.
Roberto Jachini Virgili made his professional operatic debut in LA BOHEME at the TEATRO COMUNALE, Cagli in 2004, the same production going on to CAMI HALL in New York and the same year was engaged for Rossini’s IL VIAGGIO A REIMS in Pesaro. Other first performances included L’ELISIR D’AMORE in Cagli and Pesaro, Mozart’s BASTIEN UND BASTIENNE and contemporary operas including Mannino’s IL QUADRO DELLE MEREVIGLIA and Zaninelli’s SNOW WHITE in a season at the TEATRO PICCOLO DEL MAGGIO in Florence. 2007 included engagements to appear in THE MAGIC FLUTE in Bologna and at the MALIBRAN THEATRE in Venice, in GIANNI SCHICCHI in an arena production in Fiesole, Monteverdi’s IL COMBATTIMENTO DI TANCREDI E CLORINDA in Fermo and Furlan’s LA CASA DEI MOSTRI at the TEATRO PICCOLO DEL MAGGIO in Florence and during 2009 he appeared as Eclittico in Haydn’s IL MONDO DELLA LUNA in Cesena and in Donizetti’s IL CAMPANELLO in Florence.
Since then Roberto Jachini Virgili’s engagements has gone on to appear as Ruiz in IL TROVATORE, conducted by Yuri Temirkanov and directed by Lorenzo Mariani and as Tebaldo in I VESPRI SICILIANI, conducted by Massimo Zanetti and directed by Pier Luigi Pizzi, both for the VERDI FESTIVAL in Parma.
His engagements during 2010 and 2011 included the role of Goro in MADAM BUTTERFLY and Petermann in Offenbach’s MONSIEUR CHOUFLEURI, both productions for the PERGOLESI THEATRE in Jesi, Ismaele in NABUCCO, conducted by Francesco Pasqualetti, his debut as Almaviva in THE BARBER OF SEVILLE and Ernesto in DON PASQUALE both seasons in Recanati.
Recent engagements during 2012 and 2013 included his return to the role of Ruiz in IL TROVATORE, conducted by Renato Palumbo and, again director by Lorenzo Mariano for the MASSIMO THEATRE in Palermo, his debut as Alfredo in LA TRAVIATA at the COMUNALE FUSIGNANO, Bardolf in FALSTAFF in Jesi and Sassari, conducted by Giampaolo Bisanti and directed by Marco Spada and, during 2014, he appeared as Almaviva in THE BARBER OF SEVILLE under conductor Riccardo Serenelli in Lucera.
He has recorded extensively and appears, for NAXOS, as Alessandro in I VESPRI SICILIANI and as Ruiz in IL TROVATORE, and appears on its TUTTO VERDI album. For the TACTUS label he appears in its recording of Verdi’s UN GIORNO DI REGNO and on the BONGIOVANNI label he appears in Haydn’s IL MONDO DELLA LUNA.
Roberto Jachini Virgili’s engagements during 2015 included the world premiere production of Angelo Inglese’s LA BOTTEGA DEI SOGNI at the PETRUZELLI THEATRE in Bari and Ismaele in NABUCCO for AGENCY PROMUSICA in Poland.
During 2016 he sang the role of Lindoro in THE ITALIAN GIRL IN ALGIERS at the BELGRADE NATIONAL THEATRE.
2017 included the role of Don Ottavio in DON GIOVANNI for the MACEDONIAN OPERA & BALLET in Skopje, Don Ramiro in LA CENERENTOLA for THEATER RUDOLSTADT, Almaviva in THE BARBER OF SEVILLE in Rieti, conducted by baroque specialist, Fabio Biondi and Davus in Keiser’s OCTAVIA in the program of the 2017 INNSBRUCK EARLY MUSIC FESTIVAL.
