Suren Maksutov graduated from the TCHAIKOVSKY NATIONAL MUSIC ACADEMY, in Kiev, in 2010.
He was a semi-finalist in the OPERALIA COMPETITION MOSCOW in 2011 and has gone on to appear as a guest artist at the MIKHAILOVSKY OPERA in St Petersbourg, at the BOLSHOI THEATRE and the NATIONAL OPERA KIEV and, in France, at OPERA DE LIMOGES, the ANGERS NANTES OPERA and the OPERA NATIONAL DE LORRAINE.
His roles include Alfredo in LA TRAVIATA at the BOLSHOI THEATRE in 2014, the Young Gypsy in ALEKO and Dante in FRANCESCA DE RIMINI, both for OPERA NATIONAL DE LORRAINE in 2015, and in the same season, Lensky in EUGENE ONEGIN at ANGERS NANTES OPERA and also at OPERA DE LIMOGES in 2016.
For the MIKHAILOVSKY OPERA, his appearances in St. Petersbourg have included Red Whiskers in the Willy Decker production of BILLY BUDD in 2012, Lensky and Alfredo, Edmondo in MANON LESCAUT and Grigoriy in BORIS GODUNOV and Godefroy de Vaudemont in IOLANTA all during the 2014/2015 season, Der Steuermann in THE FLYING DUTCHMAN in 2016/2017, and further performances of Edmondo in the same season.
For the MIKHAILOVSKY OPERA, during 2019, he sings Vakula in Tchaikovsky’s CHEREVICHKI and Chekalinsky in THE QUEEN OF SPADES and gives further performances of Alfredo.
Suren Maksutov’s concert engagements include performances of Rachmaninov’s THE BELLS at the MAGGIO MUSICALE in Florence and concert tours of Italy, France, Monaco, Spain, Germany and Poland.
