Seán O’Boyle AM, Artist in Residence at Moravian University (USA), was awarded the Order of Australia in 2015 for his outstanding contribution to music. He is a prolific and critically acclaimed conductor, composer, orchestrator, and producer, with a vast output spanning orchestral, jazz, opera, ballet, film, television, and commercial music. His compositions have been performed or recorded by major orchestras in Australia and internationally.
His guest conducting appearances in Australia have included the Sydney, Melbourne, Tasmanian, Adelaide, West Australian, Canberra, and Queensland Symphony Orchestras; the Queensland Pops and Australian Pops; Opera Queensland; Queensland Ballet; and the Barrier Reef and Willoughby Symphony Orchestras.
His recent work includes conducting his own arrangements with the BBC Concert Orchestra for the BBC’s Radio 2 Piano Room programme with such artists as Delta Goodrem and Gary Barlow.
O’Boyle is a passionate advocate of Indigenous Australian music, his ongoing collaborations with William Barton have significantly expanded the repertoire for didgeridoo and orchestra. He also maintains a 30-year artistic relationship with the Southern Cross Soloists.
